Most people want to volunteer with the P.E.I. Humane Society because they love animals. Please explain other reasons why you want to volunteer and how you expect the experience will affect your life.

Please enter the names and telephone numbers of two references. Do not include relatives.

Shelter Volunteers: minimum once a week with regular attendance.
Special Events Volunteers volunteer when needed, day, evenings or weekends.

If you have any health conditions or concerns that may be affected by working in an animal shelter, please check with your doctor before you start to volunteer.

For the safety and security of the volunteers, employees and animals, the P.E.I. Humane Society requires that volunteer applicants provide a clear criminal record check before they can start volunteering at the shelter.

Please click on the PDF document below to print a copy of a memo of request from the P.E.I. Humane Society you may take to your local police department or enforcement agency (e.g. RCMP) to make arrangements for your criminal record check. This can be done quickly and usually does not involve any cost if it is required for a volunteer application. See list of phone numbers below.

You will have to mail or deliver the results of your record check to the P.E.I. Humane Society to be included with application. Applications will not proceed until the criminal record check is submitted to the P.E.I. Humane Society for consideration.
